On 28 October 2026 Bonhams Hong Kong will present ICONIC SPEELMAN. This note covers only the first highlight: a monumental gilt-bronze Avalokitesvara of the Yuan–Ming period.

The figure is about 77 cm high and sits in a meditative pose. A high-waisted skirt, layered shawl, jewellery and shoulder ribbons are modelled with unusual finish for a bronze of this scale. The face is calm; the body combines Chinese drapery with Himalayan crown and ornament, a synthesis typical of Buddhist metalwork in China during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

Bonhams publishes an estimate of HK$7,000,000–9,000,000. The cover shows the complete seated figure; the in-article photograph is a detail of the same head and torso. Neither image belongs to the deer, cloisonné, or lacquer lots that follow.
